Otis

I created Otis as a personal illustration project that actually began as a sketch of my son as a baby. Like many of my sketch to digital projects this piece evolved during its creation and took on a life of its own. I consider this project to be in the multi-media realm due to multiple programs, techniques, photos, and hand drawn elements incorporated in to the piece. I created this illustration by first drawing the character then filling in the sketch with pieces of actual photos…an infant nose, mouth from a movie clip, forehead from a holiday card. It’s like a quilt of photos with a satirical aspect that projected my opinion of the culture at the time.
